The Vertical Gas Corridor (VGC) offers a strategic pathway for U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) to reach Southeastern and Central Europe, strengthening energy security and reducing dependence on Russian supplies. By linking the Alexandroupolis FSRU in Greece with the Trans-Balkan Pipeline and Ukraine’s underground gas storage, the corridor provides a flexible, reliable, and diversified supply route. This policy brief examines the technical, regulatory, and commercial opportunities for U.S. LNG, while highlighting USEA’s role in facilitating regional coordination and advancing European energy resilience.
