The 32nd President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed the third World Power Conference in Washington D.C where he said, “It seems to me, as a layman, that the outstanding gift of modern science and engineering to society is greater knowledge of the characteristics of electric energy, together with a very substantial degree of command over it. Its flexibility is what makes electrical energy impressive; its transportability; its divisibility.”
1947
In 1947, the United Nations granted the World Power Conference consultancy status.
1950s
In the 1950s, USEA, like many energy organizations, was focused on the post-World War II energy landscape, which was marked by rapid economic growth and increasing demand for energy in the United States and around the world.
1968
The World Power Conference, was renamed the World Energy Conference in 1968 to reflect the broadening of the energy perspective beyond primary fuels. The World Energy Conference till date continues to bring nations together rising above politics.
1974
President Gerard R. Ford addressed the 9th World Energy Conference in Detroit, United States in 1974. In his speech he urged action on a global energy strategy to improve global solutions on energy with technical competence, solution centricity and energy efficiency.
