Mark Marano brings nearly 30 years of nuclear industry and vendor operations experience to his position as president, Americas and Europe, Middle East and Africa Regions.

Marano is responsible for Westinghouse customer relationships, account team development, and government and regulatory affairs within the two Regions. He also oversees global marketing, commercial operations, and corporate development, strategy and facilities management. Marano’s proven track record and experience help to enhance customer value while realizing targeted strategic growth.

Prior to his Westinghouse arrival, Marano was senior vice president, Business Development at AREVA NP in Charlotte, North Carolina (USA). Before that he was senior vice president, New Plants. Prior to his positions at Areva, Marano held executive leadership roles at Burns and Roe

Enterprises, Inc. and GE Hitachi. Most notably he was senior vice president for commercial, marketing and business development for GE Hitachi in Wilmington, North Carolina.

From 2005 through 2006 Marano was vice president, financial planning, American Electric Power (AEP). From 2001 to 2005, he was president and chief executive officer, Numanco LLC, an American Electric Power subsidiary. Concurrently, he served as vice president, Generation Business Services, where he was responsible for management and oversight of all business services in support of AEP’s generation fleet of 82 plants in 11 states, inclusive of nuclear, coal, gas and hydroelectricity.

Prior to his roles at AEP, Marano spent 10 years in successive levels of senior management positions at nuclear plants sites with several utilities where he played key nuclear plant turnaround roles in the 1980s and 1990s. This included Florida Power and Light, Carolina Power and Light, Public Services Electric and Gas and Florida Power Corporation.

Before his commercial nuclear experience, Marano worked for Grumman Aerospace and the defense industry from 1984 to 1989.

Marano was appointed in 2015 to the boards of directors for Westinghouse Electric Company and Toshiba America Energy Systems. Also he holds board directorships with E4 Carolinas—an energy industry-related trade association in the Charlotte region; the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Energy Production and Infrastructure Center; and the U.S.-based National Association of Manufacturers.
