POSTPONED: FECM Tribal Informational Briefing #5: DOE Requirements for Consultation and Engagement with Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Corporations

This Event is Postponed

Join us as the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Jennifer Kramb and Brandt Petrasek present and discuss DOE's Consultation and Engagement with Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Corporations requirements.

This Order communicates Departmental, Headquarters program, field site, laboratory, and contractor responsibilities and requirements for consultation and engagement with federally recognized Indian Tribes that arise from U.S. Department of Energy Policy on Consultation and Engagement with Federally Recognized Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act Corporations (DOE Policy 144.1; Tribal Consultation Policy). This Order expands and clarifies Departmental policy on consultation with Indian Tribes and Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) Corporations and acknowledges the provisions for conducting consultation in compliance with applicable statutes.

This is the fifth in a series of briefings meant to introduce Tribal communities to the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy & Carbon Management. This series is in response to consistent feedback from multiple tribal forums co-hosted by DOE and USEA, with the purpose of connecting tribal communities to DOE experts to:

1. empower the Tribes with fossil energy resources to gain full access to available funding and incentive opportunities.

2. accelerate the Tribes’ development of their vast energy potential.
