USEA Backs Armenia-Türkiye Normalization Efforts for Energy Security and Regional Peace
Washington, DC—United States Energy Association (USEA) President & CEO Mark Menezes and Senior Director Will Polen today issued the following statements applauding normalization efforts between Armenia and Türkiye, citing potential for transformative energy interconnections and alignment with the 'Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP)' initiative:
“The United States Energy Association welcomes efforts to normalize relations and open the borders between Armenia and Türkiye. Since gaining independence, Armenia has made energy security a national priority, and strengthened regional connectivity will be critical to its long-term success. Reopening the border with Türkiye would be a transformative step: allowing the modernization of existing infrastructure and development of new electricity interconnections, enabling energy trade with Türkiye and Europe, reducing Armenia's dependence on Iran, and setting the stage for eventual synchronization with Europe's electricity grid,” said Mark Menezes, USEA President & CEO.
"This milestone aligns with the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) and will strengthen Armenia’s energy future while fostering regional cooperation, stability, and economic growth,” added William Polen, USEA Senior Director.
