EMIM Support in South Asia to the Power Sector Program (PSP)

In addition to JUMPP, with funding from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR), USEA supports ENR’s Power Sector Program (PSP) through the Indo-Pacific Energy Market Investment and Modernization (EMIM) partnership. PSP is an ENR-led effort to provide a wide range of technical support to create solvent, reliable, transparent, and sustainable power sectors and improve grid operations in countries across the globe.

EMIM’s PSP activities in South Asia and the broader ASEAN region are focused on strengthening the connection of regional power grids, building capacity of power market authorities (energy ministries, electric utilities, regulators, and system operators), promoting sound power sector governance, and enhancing grid reliability, thereby incentivizing investment, optimizing power markets, improving energy efficiency, and deploying advanced, modern power market technologies.

EMIM activities provide opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and the exchange of best practices between Asian power sector stakeholders and their counterparts in the United States. EMIM also provides targeted technical assistance to support the development of competitive, transparent power markets and facilitate bilateral and regional power trade in South Asia.
