Alice Jackson is senior vice president, system strategy, and chief planning officer for Xcel Energy

Jackson leads the company’s Integrated System Planning organization, to focus on developing and executing integrated plans for generation, transmission and distribution on the electric and natural gas systems to meet the company’s vision to deliver net-zero energy by 2050 while preserving reliability and affordability for customers. 

Prior to that role, Alice served as president of Xcel Energy – Colorado from 2018 to 2022. She was responsible for all aspects of the Colorado operating company, including state and local regulatory and government affairs, along with customer and community relations and charitable giving efforts in the state.  

Previously, Jackson was area vice president of Strategic Revenue Initiatives, leading the company’s revenue growth strategy. From 2013-2016, she was regional vice president, Rates and Regulatory Affairs, Xcel Energy - Colorado. Jackson joined Xcel Energy in 2011 as regional vice president, Rates and Regulatory Affairs, Xcel Energy – Texas, New Mexico. She has a wealth of experience in managing government and stakeholder relations, as well as developing innovative products and services for customers gained over a two-decade career in the energy industry. 

Jackson received a bachelor of science in Management Information Systems from Texas A&M University and completed the Harvard Business School Program for Leadership Development. She serves on the board of directors of the American Red Cross.

Dr. Sunita Satyapal is the Director for the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office and coordinates activities across offices for the U.S. DOE Hydrogen Program. She is responsible for more than $1.6 billion in hydrogen and fuel cell research, development, demonstration, and deployment activities within the office and for coordinating more than $9.5 billion in hydrogen activities across DOE. She has more than two and a half decades of experience across industry, academia, and government, including at United Technologies managing research and business development, and as a visiting professor. She also coordinates international hydrogen activities as Vice-Chair of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy, a partnership among over 20 countries to accelerate progress in hydrogen and is the U.S. co-lead for hydrogen efforts within the Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation.  She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University and did postdoctoral work in Applied and Engineering Physics at Cornell University.  She has numerous publications, including in Scientific American, 10 patents, and a number of recognitions including two Presidential Rank Awards.

Prior to ERCOT, Mr. Vegas was Executive Vice President of NiSource, and Group President of NiSource Utilities, where he oversaw NiSource’s electric and gas business segments and championed outstanding service to NiSource customers. He served as a versatile executive at NiSource for six years, holding numerous roles, including Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and President of Columbia Gas Group, and Chief Customer Officer. Mr. Vegas had profit and loss accountability for NiSource’s six gas and electric utility companies as well as responsibility for strategy, planning, operations, construction, engineering, regulatory, environmental services, and federal government affairs for NiSource.

Prior to joining NiSource, Mr. Vegas held a variety of senior executive positions with American Electric Power (AEP), including President and Chief Operating Officer of AEP Ohio, President and Chief Operating Officer of AEP Texas, and Vice President and Chief Information Officer of AEP.

Before his career in the regulated utility industry, Mr. Vegas served in senior leadership positions with IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Andersen Consulting.

While with NiSource, he was also chairman on the board of directors for One Columbus and a board of trustees member for the American Gas Foundation.  Mr. Vegas currently serves on the board of directors at Northwest Bancshares, Inc.

Mr. Vegas attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, completed the AEP Strategic Leadership program at the Ohio State University, and graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BS degree in mechanical engineering
