USEA’s Worthington says DOE under Perry would be transformed not destroyed
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Energy Association Executive Director, Barry Worthington, said Texas Governor Rick Perry made it clear during his confirmation hearing Thursday that he would transform the department as Energy Secretary.
In a statement, after Perry testified before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Worthington said,
“Governor Perry is exactly what the U.S. Energy Department needs, a critical eye to evaluate what works and what doesn’t at the department
“Governor Perry has been an effective executive for the State of Texas and its broad energy industry, which has reduced emissions significantly and advanced new technology to produce energy in a cleaner, more efficient way.
“Governor Perry brings a refreshing problem-solving style. He is open, and willing to learn, and listen to counsel. He’s authentic.
“USEA has always had a close relationship with the Department of Energy as our teams work together to develop new ways to manage our resources, produce energy and support global energy security
“We look forward to working with Governor Perry as the next U.S. Energy Secretary and we stand with him as a resource.”
