USEA Names Vicki Hollub Recipient of 2025 Energy Award

Washington, D.C. – The United States Energy Association (USEA) today announced that they have named Occidental President and CEO Vicki Hollub the recipient of the 2025 United States Energy Award. The United States Energy Award is one of the most respected awards within the energy industry. Established in 1989, the award recognizes preeminent energy leadership and contributions to the national and global understanding of energy issues.

“As the first woman President and CEO of a major oil company, Occidental’s Vicki Hollub continues to demonstrate exceptional leadership in business expansion, driving innovation, improving operational efficiency, and sustainable deployment of capital,” USEA President & CEO Mark Menezes said. “Her pioneering work in carbon capture and storage technologies has set a benchmark for others, and her successful leadership throughout Occidental’s expansion has not only significantly expanded the company but has served as inspiration to other corporate leaders. Ms. Hollub’s vision is shaping the future of the energy sector in production, delivery, and security. We are honored to present her with this award.”

Each year, USEA announces the call for nominations of individuals to receive this prestigious award. The Award Selection Committee examines each nominee’s leadership, history of proven accomplishments, and efforts in advancing energy initiatives in the United States and abroad.  Ms. Hollub not only met but far exceeded the qualities that USEA seeks in its United States Energy Award recipients. 

Ms. Hollub was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in 2016 and has been a member of Occidental’s Board of Directors since 2015.

During her more than 40-year career with Occidental, Ms. Hollub has held a variety of management and technical positions with responsibilities on three continents, including roles in the United States, Russia, Venezuela and Ecuador. She also served as President and Chief Operating Officer, overseeing the company’s oil and gas, chemical and midstream operations.

Ms. Hollub previously was Senior Executive Vice President, Oxy, and President, Oxy Oil and Gas, where she was responsible for operations in the U.S., the Middle East region and Latin America. Prior to that, she held a variety of leadership positions, including Executive Vice President, Oxy, and President, Oxy Oil and Gas, Americas; Vice President, Oxy, and Executive Vice President, U.S. Operations, Oxy Oil and Gas; Executive Vice President, California Operations; and President and General Manager of the company’s Permian Basin operations. She started her career at Cities Service, which was acquired by Occidental.

Ms. Hollub serves on the boards of Lockheed Martin and the American Petroleum Institute. She is a member of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative and past chair of the World Economic Forum’s Oil and Gas Community. A graduate of the University of Alabama, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering. She was inducted into the University of Alabama College of Engineering 2016 class of Distinguished Engineering Fellows and elected to the National Academy of Engineering Class of 2024.​
