Washington, DC—USEA President & CEO Mark Menezes today issued the following statement after the Commission on the Scaling of Fusion Energy released its final report “Fusion Forward: Powering America’s Future.”

“Fusion Forward: Powering America's Future,” declares that fusion energy is a matter of national security, economic dominance, and technological superiority. The nation that commercializes fusion first will control the global energy and supply chain landscape. The report warns that while the U.S. leads in science, the race is at a "critical inflection point" because China has already invested between $6.5 and $10 billion since 2023 on commercialization and is actively positioning itself to dominate the fusion supply chain.
