The exchange was focused on updating the U.S. industry on key improvements in enabling environments for geothermal as well as future commercial opportunities throughout Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Tanzania. The delegation was led by the US-East Africa Geothermal Partnership team and comprised representatives from Uganda, Tanzania and Ethiopia.

By assessing best practices in load forecasting in the German power sector, South Asian utility executives will be provided with tools to improve the quality of their electricity distribution and transmission operations and planning, as well as to assist them in the transition for expanded cross-border electricity trade. The program will allow SARI/EI executives to learn from German best practices on how to develop load forecasts and maximize their benefits, as well as present opportunities for sharing experiences between Germany and South Asia.

The 6th African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo C-6) will take place at the United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa Ethiopia from October 31st, 2016 to November 4th, 2016. Organized by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the aim of this biennial conference is to promote regional cooperation, create an information exchange platform on the exploration, development, investment and utilization of the geothermal resources in the region and elsewhere in the world.

The Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) Geothermal Energy Expo and Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) Annual Meeting is the largest geothermal conference in North America and is widely attended by the international geothermal industry, making this event an ideal location for this executive exchange.

MARCH 2014 – MANILA & CEBU, THE PHILIPPINES – Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), energy executives from the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd (TANESCO), Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO), Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEM) and Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (EWURA) recently participated in the Executive Exchange on Increasing Access to Electricity by Improving Billing, Metering and Collections in Manila and Cebu, the Philippines.

The U.S.-East Africa Geothermal Partnership Program (EAGP) hosted two delegates from East Africa in Washington, DC on an Executive Exchange focusing on geothermal finance and policy issues. The exchange was held in conjunction with the Geothermal Energy Association’s (GEA) International Geothermal Showcase and a GEA-US Department of State workshop on geothermal best practices. Additional meetings with U.S. government agencies and private-sector players were scheduled for the delegates throughout the week.

The U.S.-East Africa Geothermal Partnership sponsored nine delegates from Kenya and Ethiopia to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA for the 37th Annual Geothermal Resources Council (GRC) Annual Meeting and Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) Geothermal Energy Expo in September/October 2013.
