On July 19th, 2012, the United States Energy Association organized and hosted the US- China Fossil Energy Industry Forum. This meeting concluded a study tour exchange between the U.S. Department of Energy and Shenhua Group on coal mining, power generation and coal conversion. It provided senior DOE and Shenhua officials with an opportunity to recognize the achievements of this exchange, as well as to reaffirm the importance of U.S.-China fossil energy collaboration. The Workshop on Clean Energy Development Strategies in East Africa was conducted in cooperation with the East African Community Secretariat, with funding from the U.S. Agency for International Development. It focused on how utilities, regulators, and government agencies implement best practices for clean energy development.

The focus of the workshop is an overview of transmission operations for cross border electricity exchange. The two-day workshop for Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will present existing transmission operation practices to ensure reliability, stability, and safety in cross-border energy trade. The workshop will also address emergency management practices and best practices in cross border communications for electricity trade.
