CCUS Demystified

Carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) has been in use for decades, but today the industry is seeing rapid growth with nearly 600 projects in various stages of operation and devlepment globally. With this growth, USEA is undertaking a four-part educational series on the basics of CCUS. To kick off our series, part one will explore the foundations of CCUS: what it is, what it isn’t, and why it matters now more than ever. The session will trace the history of carbon capture, explain its role across industries and introduce the terminology and value chains that define the field.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of CCUS benefits, from enabling lower-carbon fuels to supporting industrial competitiveness. This session is designed as a lecture and presentation format, providing an accessible but comprehensive overview for those new to the subject as well as a grounding refresher for those already working in the energy and policy space.
