Derek Burke
Derek Burke serves as Senior Program Coordinator for the U.S. Energy Association working on the U.S.-East Africa Geothermal Partnership (EAGP). EAGP is a public-private partnership between the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the implementing partner, USEA. The partnership seeks to promote the development of geothermal energy resources and projects in East Africa, while facilitating the involvement of the U.S. geothermal industry in the region. In his role Derek collaborates with USAID, members of the international donor community, and public and private sector stakeholders to advance energy sector development and further sustainable economic growth.
Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Studies from Kansas State University and a Master’s of Science in Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Prior to joining USEA, Derek served in the Peace Corps in Ghana and worked on two USG funded projects in Liberia.
