Mr. Grybowski is the Chief Executive Officer of Deepwater Wind, where he manages the company’s portfolio of offshore wind and transmission projects. He has been intimately involved in the development of Deepwater Wind’s path-breaking Block Island Wind Farm since its inception in 2008.

Mr. Grybowski has been at the forefront of shaping the commercial structures and government policies necessary to support offshore wind in the U.S. He plays a key role in the development of federal and state policies governing the leasing, permitting, and commercialization of offshore wind and transmission projects. Through the advancement of the Block Island Wind Farm, Mr. Grybowski has been a leader in establishing the commercial framework for standing up a new renewable energy industry in the United States.

Mr. Grybowski previously served as Chief of Staff to the Governor of the State of Rhode Island, where he was the Governor’s senior advisor on all matters of state business, including fiscal policy, management of state operations, legislative strategy, and the formation and implementation of executive policies. He previously practiced corporate law at Hinckley, Allen & Snyder in Providence, Rhode Island and at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, New York.

Mr. Grybowski earned an A.B. with Honors in Public Policy from Brown University, a J.D. with High Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law, and served as a Law Clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.

José Emeterio Gutiérrez was named interim president and chief executive officer in June 2016, following the promotion of former president and CEO Danny Roderick to president of Toshiba Corporation’s Energy Systems & Solutions Company and Chairman of the Westinghouse Board of Directors.

Prior to being named to the company’s highest leadership role, Mr. Gutiérrez led the Westinghouse global Nuclear Fuel and Components Manufacturing (NF&CM) organization, a product line that provides nuclear fuel, fuel-handling equipment and cranes, large nuclear components and global nuclear supply chain services to a global customer base. 

Mr. Gutiérrez, who also had been a member of the Westinghouse Board of Directors, will retain his role on the board as the acting president and CEO.

Prior to serving as senior vice president of NF&CM, which he assumed in April 2012, Mr. Gutiérrez served as managing director and vice president for Southern Europe in Westinghouse’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region since 2010. In this position he was responsible for operations in Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Bulgaria and Romania, and also was responsible for customer and stakeholder interfaces, Westinghouse legal representation and statutory requirements.

Additionally, Mr. Gutiérrez served as regional vice president of Spain for Westinghouse, as well as Nuclear Services technical director, leading all Westinghouse Services operations in Spain between 2008 and 2010.

Prior to joining Westinghouse, he held fuel leadership positions with ENUSA Industrias Avanzadas S.A. in Spain over a period of 22 years. In his nuclear fuel director role at ENUSA, Mr. Gutiérrez was responsible for leading the Juzbado Manufacturing Plant and had full responsibility before the Spanish Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Overall, he brings more than 25 years of experience in the global nuclear market, including experience in nuclear fuel engineering and fabrication, as well as participation in various GE nuclear fuel development projects in the United States. 

He served as chairman of the Spanish Nuclear Society between 2009 and 2011, and has been a member of several European organizations such as Foratom European Atomic Forum and the European Nuclear Society. He also served as dean of the Business School of Westinghouse University, which is designed to prepare the Westinghouse workforce for the future.

As vice president, government relations, Justin Maierhofer leads an organization responsible for educating federal, state, and local elected officials and their staffs on TVA issues.  This group also interacts with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the office of Management and Budget, Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Energy and other federal regulatory agencies.  Additionally, Government Relations engages with the Electric Power Research Institute, Nuclear Energy Institute, American Public Power Association, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, Edison Electric Institute, State Chambers of Commerce and other organizations concerning TVA business matters.

Previously, Justin served as Vice President and Chief of Staff in the office of the Chief Executive Officer and served in this role for both Tom Kilgore and Bill Johnson.  Prior to that assignment, he led the TVA Washington office as director of government relations for six years. He joined the Washington office as senior manager of Federal Affairs in June 2002. In both roles, Justin led TVA's interactions with the Administration, congressional staff, industry groups and trade associations.  He also advised the TVA board on matters pertaining to these stakeholders and helped foster strategic alliances with other organizations and associations whose interests and activities are similar to those of TVA.

Prior to joining TVA, Maierhofer was a congressional affairs liaison at the Department of Energy.  A native of Carrollton, Georgia, he moved to Washington, D.C. in 1996 and began his career by working for the late United States Senator Paul Coverdell of Georgia.

Daniel B. Poneman

President and Chief Executive Officer

Daniel B. Poneman is president and chief executive officer of Centrus Energy Corp.  He also serves on the company’s board of directors.

From 2009 to 2014, Mr. Poneman was the Deputy Secretary of Energy, also serving as the chief operating officer of the U.S. Department of Energy. His responsibilities spanned the range of US energy policies and programs – hydrocarbons, renewables, nuclear, and efficiency – including cybersecurity, project management, national security, and international cooperation.  He was also responsible for the Department’s efforts on resilience and emergency response, in cases ranging from Fukushima to Hurricane Sandy. Between April 23, 2013, and May 21, 2013, Mr. Poneman served as Acting Secretary of Energy.

Prior to assuming his responsibilities as Deputy Secretary, Mr. Poneman served as a principal of the Scowcroft Group for eight years, providing strategic advice to corporations in a variety of strategic industries. In addition, for eight years he practiced law as a partner at Hogan & Hartson and an associate at Covington & Burling, advising clients on regulatory and policy matters.

In prior tours in government, Mr. Poneman served as a White House Fellow and as Director of Defense Policy and Arms Control for the National Security Council. From 1993 through 1996 he was Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Nonproliferation and Export Controls at the National Security Council. His responsibilities included the development and implementation of U.S. policy in such areas as peaceful nuclear cooperation, missile technology, space-launch activities, sanctions determinations, chemical and biological arms control efforts, and conventional arms transfer policy.

Mr. Poneman has published widely on national security issues and is the author of Nuclear Power in the Developing World and Argentina: Democracy on Trial. His third book, Going Critical: The First North Korean Nuclear Crisis (coauthored with Joel Wit and Robert Gallucci), received the 2005 Douglas Dillon Award for Distinguished Writing on American Diplomacy. Mr. Poneman is a Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School, a Distinguished Fellow at the Paulson Institute, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Mr. Poneman received A.B. and J.D. degrees with honors from Harvard University and an M.Litt. in Politics from Oxford University.

Anda Ray serves as the SVP, Energy, Environment and External Relations, and Chief Sustainability Officer at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).  She leads EPRI’s environmental research sector that addresses environmental sciences, energy analysis, sustainability and occupational health and safety. She also leads EPRI’s government relations, external stakeholder relations and communications teams.

Prior to EPRI, Ms. Ray spent over 30 years in the electric utility business, primarily with the Tennessee Valley Authority.  She served in several executive positions whose scope of responsibilities spanned almost all aspects of the electric utility’s operations and business areas. Ms. Ray’s career milestones include: testified before Congress on various topics, including on the Water-Energy Nexus; appeared on “60 Minutes”; National Public Radio (NPR): “World Business Review” with former U.S. Secretary of Defense; recognized by the Harvard Business Review for efforts on corporate performance; served as the recovery Executive for a major coal ash spill.  She also collaborated with the Secretaries of Energy and Agriculture on delivering the first U.S. “Vision and Roadmap for Bioenergy and Biobased Products in the United States” and led the establishment of the first renewable energy premium program in the southeastern U.S.

Ms. Ray received a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Physics from Auburn University, and an Master of Science in Solid State Physics from Emory University.  She serves a regional Board of Directors for the American Red Cross; the Leadership Council for the College of Science and Math at Auburn University; teaches educational classes for teens at a local church; and was a licensed pilot and scuba diver.
