Suriya Evans-Pritchard Jayanti is an award-winning U.S. international energy legal and policy expert. Her expertise in the field is centered on Eastern Europe. Her overall focus is the geopolitics of energy and strategic energy policy.

Currently based in Washington, D.C., Ms. Jayanti served in the U.S. Diplomatic Corps for almost a decade, with tours in Kuwait, the Bahamas, Iraq, Ukraine and Washington.

Her most challenging assignment was as the Energy Chief at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, from 2018 to 2020. In that capacity, she worked closely with Ukrainian counterparts to help reform the country’s energy sector and establish energy security.

Prior to her diplomatic career, she worked as an energy attorney in Brussels and Washington, D.C. She previously worked for some years in journalism, most notably in Beirut at the Daily Star, the largest English-language newspaper in the Middle East.

Suriya has contributed to two textbooks and published in such venues as the International Energy Law Review and the Law Reviews at Georgetown, Rutgers, and American Universities.

Originally from Los Angeles, California, she holds a BA from Claremont McKenna College, a J.D. from American University and an LL.M. from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

Geothermal energy has countless benefits, mainly providing clean grid power at the lowest possible cost. Geothermal power plants can also provide economic benefits beyond power (or heat) as a way to stimulate and support the socio-economic development of countries in East Africa, especially near the plant itself. However, innovative technologies in other industries can provide greater power output and greater value, especially when overall grid costs are considered.

At FMPA his responsibility over all of corporate Information Technology as well as the Operational Technology as it relates to FMPA’s generation assets. With more than 25 years of experience, Carter has held numerous roles in the IT/OT domain while maintaining a passion for cybersecurity. Carter often advises for the interests of APPA (American Public Power Association) and other municipal trade organizations in regard to cybersecurity, policy and NERC CIP compliance.

Carter is currently the chair for the Cyber Mutual Assistance Compliance Committee, was a voting member for NERC CIPC, and acts as chair/author/member/participant/contributor for numerous other committees, groups and publications in the cyber security and compliance arenas.

Katheryn B. “Kathy” Curtis is senior vice president– Generation, Dominion Energy Virginia. 

Her team oversees the operation of Dominion Energy Virginia’s power generating fleet of gas, hydro, solar, biomass, coal and oil-fueled power stations in Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia. 

Curtis joined the company in 1981 and has held numerous leadership positions in the corporate support departments of Human Resources, Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, and New Asset Acquisition & Integration. Her longest tenure has been in Power Generation, where she held leadership responsibilities for several power stations and served as vice president–Merchant Operations before assuming her current post in January 2014. 

She serves on the executive committee of the board of trustees of the Virginia Holocaust Museum in Richmond and on the executive committee of the board of directors of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. She also is a board member of the Association of Edison Illuminating Companies and serves on its Power Generation Committee. 

Curtis earned a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from the University of Virginia and her executive MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
