Biography: 

William Polen is the Senior Director of the United States Energy Association (USEA), where he leads a team that supports cooperative energy programs with the U.S. government. He has over 30 years of experience in domestic and international energy development and is an expert in project design and delivery, capacity building, field operations, and strategic partnerships.

He most recently directed the Just and Secure Energy Transition Program, which supported the integration of energy infrastructure and markets across ten countries in Europe and Eurasia to accelerate sustainable energy investment, improve grid resilience, and promote public engagement. Mr. Polen also spearheaded the creation of the Eastern European Natural Gas Partnership, a 12-country initiative that advances regional energy security through strategic LNG and pipeline infrastructure development.

In partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management, Mr. Polen oversees the CONSENSUS Program, which promotes technologies that reduce emissions from fossil fuels while strengthening U.S. energy security and the security of critical minerals.

Mr. Polen holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from the University of Delaware and a Master of Arts in International Development from The American University.
