Dr. Ben Wernette is a Geologist and Project Manager for the Southern States Energy Board. In this role, Dr. Wernette works with his colleagues to manage the daily activities of the Southern States Energy Board's Carbon Management Research Program. Consisting of five federally funded research and development projects, the Carbon Management Research Program is charged with identifying and removing the barriers to the commercial deployment of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies. Before joining the Southern States Energy Board in 2020, Dr. Wernette completed his Doctorate studies at Duke University, where he specialized in Geochemistry and Economic Geology.
