Bryan Tisch
Bryan is Manager of the Critical Minerals Secretariat at CanmetMINING, Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). He is a biologist and has been with CanmetMINING for 26 years. For the last 9 years, he has played a key role in the development, management, and delivery of CanmetMINING’s critical mineral programming, including a five year $24M Rare Earth and Chromite R&D program and subsequent ~$90M Critical Minerals R&D programs. He is also the Canadian Co-Chair of the Research and Innovation Sub-Working Group under the Canada/US Joint Action Plan on critical minerals.
Bryan has a diverse environmental background in mining. For the first half of his career, his focus has been on the reclamation of mine tailings, particularly related to the use of biosolids for the reclamation of mine tailings and growth of bioenergy crops – a sustainable tailings reclamation approach. He also developed and delivered multi-million-dollar environmental capacity-building projects to regulatory and environmental agencies in the mining sectors of Zambia, Guyana and Brazil.
He has BSc and MSc degrees in Biology from Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.
