Biography: 

Gerry Protti has more than 35 years’ experience in the energy industry, including 15 years as an executive officer of EnCana Corporation and one of its predecessor companies PanCanadian.

Mr. Protti’s corporate experience includes marketing, operations, new ventures and corporate relations. He was the founding president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and was executive director of the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada. His extensive experience includes roles as assistant deputy minister with the Government of Alberta’s Energy Department and senior positions with the Alberta Treasury Department and the Canadian Energy Research Institute.

He has also served as chairman of a number of Boards including the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Public Policy Forum and STARS Foundation. He has served on the Boards of the Alberta Economic Development Authority, Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures, Calgary Economic Development, Calgary Opera, the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, SAIT Polytechnic and the University of Alberta.

Gerry received a Bachelor of Arts, Honours (Economics) from the University of Alberta in 1974, and a Master of Arts (Economics) from the University of Western Ontario in 1975. He has completed the Wharton Business School's Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania and Institute of Corporate Directors Corporate Governance College, Directors Education Program May 2005, Institute-certified Director, ICD.D, July 2005.
