Jef Vincent is a Belgian citizen. He has been working for IRENA since 2018, leading the work of the agency in the areas of risk mitigation and project facilitation. The ambition of the different projects is to support renewable energy projects to access the support that they need. This work has now been brought together in the Climate Investment Platform, a joint initiative of UNDP, IRENA, SEforAll with the support of the Green Climate Fund.

Before joining IRENA, Jef was active for nearly 30 years in credit and political risk insurance, with a private insurance company (Euler Hermes), a national export credit agency (Credendo), and the last seven years a multilateral insurance company (Africa Trade Insurance). In total he worked 20 years as senior manager in startups in the Czech Republic, Asia and Africa.

Besides his work with IRENA he also represents the African Development Bank in the supervisory board of AfricaRe, Africa’s largest reinsurance company, and he prepares the start-up of an export credit agency in Mongolia for the World Bank.
