Mark Vallo is Manager of Smart Grid Performance at FirstEnergy.  

He graduated with Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University and then hired with Cleveland Electric Illuminating in 1984.

Mark has 37 years with FirstEnergy.  At FE, Mark’s work experiences include;

• 18 years FE Generation, Power Plant Control Systems
• 3 years FE Sales & Marketing, Energy Engineer
• 16 years FE Utilities, Operations Center, Engineering, Smart Grid

Mark’s group provides Smart Grid conceptual development.   He ensures that Smart Grid technology that is deployed achieves the expected results, including interactions and reports to applicable State Commissions.

Mark is a Registered Professional Engineer, State of Ohio. In 2016, Mark and his team were recognized with an EPRI Technology Transfer Award for Distribution Automation.

Mark and his family lives in Northeast Ohio and he is quite active in youth sports as an AAU/ CYO, non-parent, basketball coach. Mark enjoys golf and plays as much as weather and home life allows.
