Biography: 

Scott Strawn is a vice president in the Energy Group at Burns & McDonnell, a 100-percent employee-owned AEC firm. Burns & McDonnell employs over 10,000 professionals, whose work generated $5.7 billion in sales in 2021 and resulted in the support of nearly 17,000 projects. Burns & McDonnell ranks No. 1 in Power and No. 9 on the list of top design firms, according to Engineering News-Record.

Scott joined the firm in 2006, became director of marketing and sales for North America in 2018 and was promoted to officer in 2020. Scott currently helps lead strategic direction collaborating across renewable, conventional and emerging energy businesses for the firm.

Out of the office, Strawn invests time and energy into organizations that support education and childhood development. Scott is serving on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City and is a former Big. He has also been previously active with organizations such as The First Tee of Kansas City, Christmas in October, Outpacing Melanoma and the United Way.

Scott earned his bachelor’s degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He and his wife, Stephanie, have a daughter and two sons and live in Parkville, Missouri.
