Job Title:
Risk Management and Sustainability Reporting
Organization:
HBW Resources

Ryan Scott is Vice President for Risk Management and Sustainability Reporting at HBW Resources. He specializes in working with clients to better understand, and achieve, their goals by identifying risks that exist outside of an organization’s core operations. He has developed outreach strategies, and materials that allow companies to engage effectively with key decision makers vital to project success. Ryan’s practice manifests differently from client to client; the common thread is that he works with his clients to minimize non-technical risk so they can focus on what they do best whether it is moving freight, generating energy, or something else altogether.

Ryan also works with clients to develop an ESG reporting discipline to enable them to do more than simply ‘check the box’. This ESG discipline focuses on improving key operational metrics that ultimately improve performance while in turn reducing project risks. To facilitate these practices, and in collaboration with the Fuels Institute, Ryan has developed an ESG reporting tool – ESG Integrity – that provides a cost-effective platform for ESG reporting.

Prior to his time at HBW, Ryan worked at Deloitte and Touche’s Strategy and Operations Consulting practice. While there, he worked with clients such as Bristol-Myers Squibb, developing and delivering financial reporting and legal training to an executive team. Serving GMAC, he worked with his team to execute a successful bank evaluation and application process that facilitated its conversion from a state bank into a bank holding company, allowing the client to access crucial TARP funds during the Financial Crisis of 2008. Ryan also had the opportunity to work with a diverse set of world-class organizations including Wal-Mart, Caterpillar, the United Nations, AIG and others. He received a B.A. in Economics and a B.A. German from the University of Southern California, and a JD – MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
