POSITION: Program Coordinator - Membership

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Administration

SUPERVISOR: Program Manager

This position has primary responsibility for coordinating USEA’s General Membership program. The successful candidate will be an energetic self-starter with strong problem-solving skills. The position also demands collegiality, flexibility and teamwork skills. The program coordinator will design and implement tactics and strategies aimed at retaining current members and acquiring new members; assists with other annual giving programs as applicable.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Spearheads yearly membership targets to help meet or exceed budget goals.
  • Coordinates membership recruitment, retention, and renewal efforts.
  • Strategizes with the President to develop membership promotions and materials and assists with execution of member events.
  • Responsible for initial new member communication.
  • Answers inquiries by e-mail, regular mail and telephone; provides follow-up as necessary; logs all calls—from response to resolution—in membership software application.
  • Handles appropriate administrative duties for the department, including filing and following up with communications to members.
  • Assists with recruitment of potential members by attending and presenting membership opportunities at corporate events.
  • Attends and staffs, as part of a broader Development Team, events and functions throughout the year.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by supervisor or the President.
  • Is able to perform duties in the USEA office in Washington DC.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the Program Manager.
  • Interacts regularly with members and potential donors to ensure membership maintenance and satisfaction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2 years of administrative support experience required. Experience coordinating a membership program for a charitable non-profit organization preferred.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES AND ABILITIES

  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with marketing efforts and promotions preferred.
  • Proficiency in membership software or platforms for managing membership databases and generating reports.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • PAY RANGE IN WASHINGTON, DC
  • Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

BASE SALARY

  • $52,000 - $84,000
  • 35-hour work week (5 days/week; 7 hours/day)
