Francisco Gafaro works as a specialist in VRE integration for XM the ISO from Colombia. Before joining XM he was with the International Renewable Energy Agency IRENA coordinating different technical assistance projects to facilitate the integration of renewable energy resources into the electricity grid. He has more than 12 years of industry experience in Latin America, Europe and the Pacific Islands, working on technical topics related to planning and operation of transmission and distribution networks and analyzing the impacts of VRE integration. Francisco holds a Bachelor degree on electrical engineering from the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia and a M.Sc. In Electrical Power Engineer from the RWTH-Aachen in Germany.
