John Swallow has been Chairman of Idaho Strategic Resources since 2014 and President and CEO since 2018. Mr. Swallow—the largest Idaho Strategic Resources, Inc. shareholder—is a successful business owner, c-suite leader and public company director with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry. With an impressive track record of investment return and job creation, Mr. Swallow also grew up and worked in Northern Idaho in a time when timber and mining were the dominant industries. This historical and firsthand experience has given him a good understanding of local perspectives and responsibility which has proven a valuable resource in building business culture and community-minded growth. Mr. Swallow has led efforts to transform IDR from a small, OTC listed company that began with a partially owned gold mine and mill, into a NYSE listed and vertically integrated gold producer with ~50 employees, three of the best rare earth elements properties, and the number one thorium property in the United States. He is a co-founder and former owner of Timberline Drilling Inc. (TDI) and prior to his exit in 2015, helped guide the business from a small core drilling company into a successful mid-tier industry service provider. Mr. Swallow has led corporate development and fundraising efforts for both private and publicly traded companies, including advancing from the OTCBB to the NYSE American. In addition to a career in the mining industry, Mr. Swallow is active locally with a specific focus on historical preservation and conservation. Leading by example, he is known for his efforts to save and renovate five distinct historic buildings - with the goal of giving them a new life and/or business purpose for the next 100+ years. In addition, he has also opted to contribute a portion of his personal property holdings into a conservation easement to protect it from future development and preserve the natural scenic corridor and wildlife overlooking Lake Coeur d’Alene. Among IDR’s employee base are many father-son, brothers, nephews and two husband-wife teams - something Mr. Swallow is especially proud.
