Kerinia Cusick has worked in renewable energy since 2008 and energy storage since 2013. Kerinia has extensive battery storage project development experience – both developing greenfield projects while at SunEdison, and advising other companies on projects ranging from aggregated behind the meter virtual power plants to front of meter battery storage projects participating in markets. Kerinia also counsels investors considering project or company investment in the energy storage sector, and works with technology companies developing and launching new products. She has worked at the forefront of energy storage policy, participating at FERC and ISOs on complex issues of storage compensation as transmission assets and dual compensation (rate base plus wholesale markets) issues. Kerinia has participated as an expert witness in a number of cases related to energy storage in the U.S.

Kerinia co-founded Center for Renewables Integration in 2017, a 501c(3) working with policy makers to find cost effective solutions to enable high-penetration renewables. Concurrently, Kerinia provides consulting services to private companies through her own firm, Distributed Energy Innovation, which she founded in 2016. She also worked in a number of roles at SunEdison from 2009 to 2015. Prior to that Kerinia worked as a consultant for mid-sized firms, and started her career in aerospace engineering. She earned an MS in Systems Management at University of Southern California, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering at Drexel University.
