Biography: 

Michael Martin served as his organization’s NERC CIP-008 Standard Owner with responsibility for its CIP cybersecurity incident response plan from 2015-2023. As a seasoned information security professional with over 25 years of experience, he specializes in securing and protecting the energy utility sector and industrial control systems. Michael honed his cybersecurity skills in the healthcare and technology sectors, where he led initiatives to enhance data security and compliance for patient health records and intellectual property.

 

Throughout his career, Michael has demonstrated a strategic approach to cybersecurity, combining technical proficiency with a deep understanding of industry-specific challenges and compliance requirements. He has professional certifications from industry leaders such as Cisco, Microsoft, ISC2 (CISSP and ISSAP), and SANS among others. Michael is a graduate of Brigham Young University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA.
