Sigurdur Markusson has worked for the past 9 years for Landsvirkjun, The National Power Company of Iceland. First as a project manager in various research and development projects related to geothermal energy utilization. Projects such as expansion of Landsvirkjun´s operation in the Krafla field, development of geothermal utilization from near magma environment and acidic wells, gas management and direct use.  

Currently Sigurdur works as a business development manager and focuses on development of new market opportunities for Landsvirkjun, with emphasis on green industries and sustainability. 

Sigurdur holds a M.Sc in geochemistry from University of Iceland, SAPM degree in Project Management from Stanford University and M.St in Sustainability Leadership from University of Cambridge.
