Biography: 

Brendan Fitzpatrick is a Senior Vice President of Axio. Brendan’s responsibilities center on delivering all facets of Axio’s cyber risk engineering approach to clients, with a specific focus on cyber program design and implementation. He developed a predefined states of operation workshop that Axio uses to help organizations mature their incident response programs. Additionally, Brendan has worked with numerous clients in the energy, transportation, and financial sectors helping them develop and improve their risk management, identity and access management, incident response, and asset management programs.

Previously, Brendan was a Senior Member of the Technical Staff at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Melon University where he led the Cyber Risk and Resilience Management Team. In this role, Brendan was responsible for a team of 11 security experts and a rolling portfolio of cybersecurity improvement projects focused on the energy, financial, transportation, and public sectors. Prior to his time at the SEI, Brendan served as an Army officer for over 12 years. He specialized in physical security operations, intelligence collection and analysis, and network security. His final assignment in the Army was with U.S. Army Cyber Command as a Senior Network Security Engineer. There Brendan was charged with leading several initiatives to improve the security posture of Army networks, advising the commanding general on technical matters, and managing the continuity of operations programs for the organization. Additionally, Brendan played a key role in the Army’s response to dozens of cyber incidents affecting Army networks and units.

Brendan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Science in Information Security and Assurance from George Mason University. Brendan also maintains his Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) certification. He has also served as an adjunct instructor teaching programming and cybersecurity courses for Northern Virginia Community College.
