Eric Hildebrandt, Executive Director, Market Monitoring, CAISO is Executive Director of the Department of Market Monitoring at the California Independent System Operator (CAISO).  He has led the CAISO’s efforts to prevent and identify manipulation and gaming of California’s energy markets since the state’s energy crisis in 2000-2001.  As the Independent Market Monitor for the CAISO, Dr. Hildebrandt’s works closely with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the California Public Utilities Commission.   Prior to joining CAISO, he worked six years in monitoring and evaluation of demand side management program for electric utilities. He has a Ph.D. and M.S in Energy Management & Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A in Political Economy from Colorado College.
