Biography: 

Tom Wilson is vice president and chief information security officer for Southern Company, one of America’s largest producers of clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy. Wilson is responsible for managing corporate cybersecurity risk and developing best practices and critical initiatives that further the company’s cybersecurity and resilience.

Wilson joined Southern Company in 1989 and has 30 years of experience leading the application of information technologies to various areas of the electric utility industry, including applications, infrastructure and security. He has been engaged in cybersecurity since the late 1990s. He is a member of an executive advisory council responsible for advancing Department of Energy (DOE) initiatives in the corporate sector and serves on the executive committee for the Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (EISAC).

Wilson works nationally with federal agencies, legislators, Congressional staff, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, the Bipartisan Policy Center, Edison Electric Institute and American Gas Association to influence and improve national security and resilience.
