This is the third installment of the Geothermal Industrial Park webinar series presented by the U.S.- East Africa Geothermal Partnership (EAGP).

The goal of a geothermal industrial park (GIP) is to achieve a circular or zero waste approach where all resources are used sustainably for the benefit of the local community. Increased innovation and resource recovery through the elimination of material leakage help maximize the economic value of natural resources such as geothermal.

In this webinar, Jón Örn Jónsson from Reykjavik Geothermal and Sigurður H. Markússon from Landsvirkjun, the National Power Company of Iceland discuss the business opportunities presented by geothermal industrial parks and their potential in East Africa using lessons learned from Iceland.

The presenters discuss broader direct use opportunities for GIPs, including attracting tenants and increasing the competitiveness, attractiveness, and environmental image of firms in the East African region.
