Instead of embracing activism to help Native Americans, Mike Lettig turned to the business world. After growing up near the Navajo reservation in northern Arizona, Lettig climbed the corporate ladder at Rainier Bank, moved to KeyBank in 1994, and three years ago persuaded his bosses to found a tribal lending arm. That unit has since doled out nearly $1 billion to Native American ventures, as Lettig -- who is based in Bellevue -- spends his days sniffing out business opportunities in Indian country.
